Rafaela Yasmin Caran Assad Founder of SR Genes
Since she was seven, Rafaela Yasmin Caran Assad dreamed of becoming a pathologist and opening her own laboratory to study disease. That dream deepened in high school when she watched a close friend battle cystic fibrosis, facing an endless search for treatments and growing difficulty breathing, until her friend passed away at just 17. That loss became the seed of SR Genes, founded to make genetic testing and treatments accessible on a large scale so more people can live longer, healthier lives.
Rafaela brings over 15 years of experience in the Brazilian and European markets as an Audit Manager, specializing in financial auditing, controllership, compliance, IFRS/US GAAP, SOX controls, and corporate finance across Big Four firms and consulting roles. Driven by her passion for health, biotechnology, and genetics, she founded SR Genes to unite financial rigor with scientific innovation, delivering credible, science-driven solutions in genetics and molecular research.
